A county built around water
The River Erne widens into Upper and Lower Lough Erne, with Enniskillen set between them. It is a useful base for exploring both, although journeys to the county's outer reaches can take longer than 40 minutes.
- Enniskillen
- The county town, set between Upper and Lower Lough Erne, with the castle museums, the Buttermarket and most of the restaurants.
- Lower Lough Erne
- The wider, more open stretch north of Enniskillen, with Devenish Island, White Island and the main boat routes.
- Upper Lough Erne
- A maze of sheltered channels and small islands south of the town, popular for fishing and quiet shoreline walks.
- Cuilcagh and Marble Arch
- Upland bog and limestone on the southern border, home to the Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail and Marble Arch Caves.
- Belleek and Lough Navar
- The western end of the county, with Belleek Pottery and the forest drive to Magho Viewpoint in Lough Navar Forest.
- Castle Archdale and Irvinestown
- Country park, marina and shoreline on the eastern side of Lower Lough Erne, with Irvinestown as the nearest town.
